CALLING ALL CONSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARS
"Congress should make no law Respecting an establishment of religion......"
What does this actually mean, literally?
Does "Congress" mean congress....does the word "law" mean law? The word establishment has several meanings, which meaning is intended? and finally, religion.... is this a specific or general or does it mean any religious organization or a church?
Some of the interpretations of these words are tortured at best.
Congress = Any government body or agency
Law = any action taken by any government ,federal or local, including how they decorate their office or desk or front lawn of the townhall. words that state employees speak.
Establishment = the result of formation ie. establishing a fact ( like the words "enhancement of" ,"punishment of", or a structure or organization,
Religion = Any spiritual expression toward any higher power, specific religions Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism etc., Santa clause, Trees with decorations, candle holders, any object that is also used as a symbol for a holiday that's origins are based on religion.. spiritual or biblical words and phrases that are uttered by people.
I need some clarifications from someone who has really studied history and what the founding fathers meant by these words. I don't think we can contort the constitution in this way but apparently we have.
By the way, this line in the constitution if immediatly followed by " nor prohibit the free excersise thereof " just a thought.......
