THE G.O.P : The Prodigal Party

I write often about Bush's stunning blind spots and misguided compassionate conservatism. The damage has been great to the party. The result of his domestic policies and the climate of spending are precisely why republicans have seemingly lost their minds and gravitated toward McCain....The spineless element of the G.O.P is so afraid of losing in November that they have sold out their own principles, this is a short sighted mistake and will cost us dearly. Conservative principals have been proven time and time again throughout history, but there is a large portion of the electorate that has no sense of history and continually falls for the feel good platitudes of change and hope. When things gets worse because of this lack of wisdom, conservatism will be there waiting to welcome them back like a family welcomes back a wayward teenager who realizes that he can't make it on his own.

MANIPULATING BLACKS : A CLINTON ARTFORM

It seems obvious to me that the Clintons have been manipulating african American voters for most of their career. I know this is a controversial view, but it's true. It is only now that anyone on the left is prepared to admit it, and they are now, in droves. Sometimes you have to read between the lines in politics.

For years "Racial tension salesmen"  like Jesse jackson and Al Sharpton have played along with the Clintons because their leftist agendas of black political dependence have coincided, but now the prospect of Obama being elected has highlighted the hypocrisy of these hustlers... If you remember , at first Black activists thought Obama wasn't "black enough" or "down with the cause" Now they are flocking to him. This actually demonstrates the paradox of racial politics. On one hand, they want someone with their racial anger politics.... and on the other hand they want someone with black skin. Both situations are wrong but for different reasons. the first situation promotes a culture of victimhood and blame...the second promotes politics based on one's melatonin levels. That's why i firmly believe that The Republican party will someday be the home for most African- Americans and latinos.

If these communities ever reject the politics of dependency, their strong moral principals will lead them home to the party of Lincoln. I've always held the cotention that conservatives were always more color blind than liberals. The evidence supports this throughout our history. From Christian and Republican abolitionists to Republicans working with Lyndon Johnson to pass Civil rights legislation and everyone in between who fought for the principals of self reliance and character  based judgement of friends and neighbors. Capitalism itself is the one most important saviors for the black community.

I've never been obsessed with Skin color....but i have always had a serious problem with skin color politics.......Character is the only thing that ever matters.

A CURE FOR BUSH DERANGEMENT SYNDROME ?

   Probably not......

The term Bush derangement was coined recently to describe the irrational hatred for president George Bush. I think it's a real illness. Someone needs to do a psychological study to compare it to other irrational behavior of a similar nature. The scientific community has kept quiet on a number of issues for reasons of political correctness. The first that comes to mind is ..abortion but there are others like  adult stem cell superiority,  economics policy and it's role in creating dependence, the deterrence of capital punishment, and issues concerning the origins of the universe. Most people are convinced that these questions are all solved and liberals are on the correct side, but like a lot of other attempts at social engineering, these perceptions have been created  by silence in scientific circles and are scientifically inaccurate as a result.

On the subject of Bush derangement syndrome, even when their perceptions are challenged or disproved ( as in the case of Richard Armitage and the Plame leak) there is no adjustment in their thinking. this is either mental illness or  severe political immorality at best.

At the state of the union I was shocked to see the Dems applaud vigorously for some military victories and remain seated when The President talked about the obvious success of our nation's military efforts in Iraq and the surge. How will future generations view these images ? Americans publicly supporting victory in some cases and then publicly hoping for American military defeat in others. Not exactly sure how i will explain it to my grandchildren.  Hopefully science will help to objectively shed some light in this area of leftist extremism.

McCain: HOOK, LINE AND SINKER

McCain's has been reeled in to the global warming hysteria. This is a major red flag. When you join the ranks of a political-religion that punishes dissenters and and closes off discussion, you disqualify yourself from my field of choices. Sorry John, That's a dangerous approach...... maybe a cabinet position but not the top job.

PARTY FRACTURED OR BIG TENT

Is the G.O.P fractured or is the nomination process just the latest illustration of the great strength of the party ? I support the Big tent philosophy. Although the primary process is highlighting the distinctions between economic, social and national security Republicans , it also highlights the expansive nature of Republican thought. When this is contrasted with the three Democrat's and their monolithic positions, it should serve as a reminder that  left wing liberals have consolidated power. You can see this clearly demonstrated by middle of the road Dems crossing over to support Republicans, albeit in small numbers at this point. It will be interesting to see what fruits, this balance will produce if they win..... and also if they lose in November. With the onset of borderline fascism.....on global warming and anti-military activism, the Dems are taking  what i believe is another short-sighted gamble. History of course, will have the final say. The G.O.P in contrast is based more on wisdom than feelings, and that is a major strength for us in the long run. So my friends be confident, thoughtful, honest and patient.....It's the conservative way!

REDMEAT & CIGARETTES : The # 1 Blog ?

Probably not!!!!  But The title got you to read this?

From Clintons calling Obama a Fairy tale("rainbows and unicorns") to Hannity referring to ("the free exercise clause") to Hugh Hewitt talking about ( "the Hucka-bust" ).....all of these quotes were repeated  1-2 days after I published them. Not to mention some others from earlier in the year, probably just my imagination , but the dates are there to see. You have to cut me a little slack ,........I am by most definitions, uneducated, I work in 2 non political jobs for around 60 hours a week and am busy raising 3 kids, yet I still have time to breakdown most of today's issues in a concise and fairly insightful way.   I don't know..... maybe I'm just looking for  a pat on the back or some free publicity... or maybe I'm just an @#$ with an opinion....... Anyway,  I'll get back to work figuring out  the bottom line for those of you who enjoy reading Redmeat & cigarettes.....I'd like to thank you in advance for your insults.

THOMPSON: Break tradition and Name V.P now

I'd love to see Fred turn this thing upside down by naming former reagan cabineteer,  Bill Bennet as his (North east) counter balance, V.P. this week. We should know who these guys will nominate anyway, so we don't get stuck with a  "Huckabee-Franklin Graham" ticket or a "McCain-Schumer ticket"...I know those are exaggerations but you get the point.

THOMPSON : THE LAST BEST CONSERVATIVE

Millions of conservatives are frustrated about the lack of support for true conservative candidates yet we overwhelmingly support those who aren't total conservatives..... sounds a bit like a paradox.

The truth is, we all fell that way, but most of us are selling out because we are even more afraid of losing in november than we are of losing a piece of our principals. I am not in that group, because the premise is faulty, Obama is truly the flavor of the month ( or two or even Three). This will be a really ,really long campaign, a year is long enough time to spell out the reasons to vote for competence and strength, and even appeal to some Dems and Mods. Steady , principled and strategic will win over blind hope, in the long term, if coupled with positive agendas for the masses.

Don't Discard Thompson and Romney and regret it later only to find yourself stranded with problematic candidates in a general. We can't undo that mistake. Conditions change month to month, and good principals are best suited for an "Already in place and proven" response capability , to serious and unforseen situations ....Imagine that, no major adjustments needed when a crisis ensues , no flip flop necessary, no empty platitudes, no acrobatic explanations of nuances. Stay strong and please, please, leave us with a principled candidate. I think Fred Thompson fits the bill.

Fred is not afraid to point out that something is  bullsh#t. or if the media is bias, he will go right over their heads and talk to the people, we need this kind of refreshing candor in the oval office.

WINNING STRATEGY: Mitt looks ahead to General election

Ok Mitt , you tried it your way, now listen to me! It's time to start talking about how you contrast with Obama and Hillary, your experience and competence stand as a stark reminder of the real choice Americans face. McCain's surge represents the self doubt that Republicans feel about the general election..... And that's it in a nut shell. Nobody in our party likes his record but we are aware of the independents and Dems that are inclined toward him. If you can attack this fear of loosing in november you will nullify his strength. We are all painfully aware of your competence , so don't waste all of your resources telling people what they already know. Show people how you will effectively attack The Dem nominee in a general election and still get some dems & independents. We are already looking ahead ...help us feel confident and we'll help you win. ( maybe you can find an issue that softens Dems & independents toward you ( like you did as governor), without ticking off the base too much. but it's getting late.... well, what are you waiting for get started!!!!!!

LET'S FACE OBAMA

If you beat Clinton you only beat a  flawed candidate.....If you beat Obama you beat the liberal philosophy itself. ....Let's think Big !

OBAMA : Rainbows and Unicorns ?

In an earlier blog i outlined the power of the politics of inspiration. Obama has capitalized on the underlying stress of the past 6 years, but If you scratch the surface of his rainbows and unicorns exterior, you will find an inexperienced empty suit, with a tendency toward socialism. I would rather face him in November for a few reasons. 10 or so months of scrutiny will reveal him as weak and maybe incompetent, His "present" votes on important issues, reveals a lack of courage. Hope sells, but in itself will not deliver the goods. This isn't the civil rights movement, the issue of our time isn't "ridding the world of partisan behavior". The underlying message is relatively shallow. Lofty soaring speeches need to be about something , to be effective in the long term. If you listen to the words..... they're empty. We need to expose the lack of substance.... When the right time comes... Because he will be the nominee. Liberals are especially fertile ground for hope over truth..... they like to feel good more than they like to face hard truths. Once again they are marching into the Happy land of Idealism, where hopefully we will find them stranded again, When the gravity of world events once again slaps us back to reality. As republicans we must remain Strong, competent, Principled, Confident....our patience will pay off.

BYE-BYE ROMNEY !!!!!

Mitt has found himself in the difficult position being where he calculated to be. He has successfully become nothing to everyone by trying to be a little something to everyone. His competency is unquestioned but his core is constantly questioned.  even before the primary season, I saw him as presidential timber because of his charisma, but he is increasingly looking disingenuous and  too polished. He would probably do a good job in office but not likely to be a new standard -bearer for conservatives.  We want someone who not only ,is real, but feels real..... All of the candidates who I thought i could vote for are falling one by one......And it looks like I will have to consider some amount of pragmatism. I know some of you will preach to me, to vote my conscience and ignore reality , but I did that with Perot and elected Clinton....That's one idealistic mistake i don't need to make ever again.  I never thought i'd say this but just maybe..........McCain?

Iowa: THE POLITICS OF INSPIRATION

It should have been more obvious to everyone that the hearts of Americans are currently very fertile grounds for a large dose of well delivered inspiration. Our hearts have been heavy with responsibility and concern over the war and all the events surrounding it. We have been overwhelmed by a negative media onslaught on economic issues. I can attest to this truth, when I listened to Obama after his win in Iowa, i even felt a little inspired by his delivery, and Huckabee has a soothing tone and a message of hope and folksy warm approach. I wouldn't vote for either of them, but nonetheless there is an element of " a break from stress" in both politicians. This won't hold up over the long haul because we actually need to remain vigilant and concerned in this modern world....the result being tension and stress.

McCain : A DEFINATIVE SUMMARY OF AN ENIGMA

Maverick ?.....Patriot ?... Conservative ?... Careless ?
I think the one term that describes him best is compassionate pragmatist. That term however, encompasses a few qualities and there not all positive, His willingness to work with politicians of all stripes has had mixed results at best. His tendencies toward reform are increasingly rare among competent politicians with experience. I truly believe he is an honorable public servant that really loves America. All that being said,  A few months ago during the outcry about the presidents " comprehensive immigration bill " He described the american public as " extra-cirricular activity. If you look it up you'll find it. I remember that feeling when hearing his words....it felt like a kick in the head. Right smack dab in the middle of one of the biggest ground swells of discontent by the people of this republic, he was totally clueless. I think this was revealing, On balance he is a plus to the party but ....those blind spots are dangerous, when combined with a stubborn streak. on the subject of campaign finance his intentions are right on...his method is unconstitutional. I would like to see them go back to the drawing board and take some of the money out of campaigning by constitutional means. You can't sellout the constitution for Great ends

I've highlighted some words in this article to demonstrate the entire picture of McCain. I think it shows an impatient enigmatic patriot who is willing to cut corners and ignore the constitution to achieve lofty goals. That's why people respect him and loathe him all at the same time. if we can get him to respect law AND work for reform, he'd be one of the greatest leaders of all time. I'm not sure if he'll ever correct himself in this regard.
