New Orleans: A City of fools?

Did the short sighted residents of New Orleans learn their lesson from Katrina? It seems so. The mayor, in a forceful press conference, called Gustave , the storm of the century and said that anyone who stays in N.O is on their own. This is an admission of  guilt in their reaction to Katrina. Remember... no one left the imperiled city, no one prepared beforehand and the national guard sat idle. When a state has a natural disaster, the ring of response goes as follows, city, state, federal.....When the first 2 fail the 3rd is bound to look worse. The federal reaction did get the job done under unprecedented conditions. The city's recovery is still failing. With astronomical amounts of federal and private aid to Katrinas victims, most of the money was mismanaged , stolen or misused at the local level. I personally raised 5000 dollars.I won't be doing that this time. I'm gonna need more bang for my buck in the future. Maybe the time has come to rethink about living on a flood plain in hurricane alley. A city that re-elected a mayor that fail them horribly, when they needed him most, is most definitely a city of fools.

TRASHING PALIN IS LIKE POISONING YOUR OWN WELL

We are only hurting ourselves by attacking something you can't change, who else are you going to vote for? If you don't like her , keep your mouth shut...unless you want to be held responsible for electing a full blown stealth socialist. She has good principles and will be a perfectly fine V.P.... Pretend if you have to... first rule of thumb is to not screw yourself. If you don't understand that, then you shouldn't be a republican or a conservative. Stop dreaming LIKE LIBERALS DO about what should be or what could be and deal with what is. Here at Townhall I am not a journalist, i am an advocate for what is best for America and the choice is between Obama-Biden and McCain-Palin... get over it and defeat socialism and liberalism, we can deal with Mccain later.

JOBAMA O'BIDEN

Jobama O'biden.......I can see the t-shirts now.......This choice is interesting.....Biden, for all of his experience, has a long history of  loserdom. Although he can always get elected in Delaware, he has been unsuccessful in achieving beyond that, despite several high profile attempts. After all, he is someone who speaks for a living. There is a glaring lack of executive credentials in this ticket. McCain should go with a Governor, or a high profile General. I know someone will respond with that economic chops argument, but we live in a serious world with danger all around. Like it or not , this nation needs to be on a strong war footing.

Moron Alert: "5 million dollars comment" WAS SARCASM!!!

Who are these morons who didn't get the sarcasm in his answer. He even pretty much spelled it out afterwards. That dufus who blogs on this site and doesn't allow comments to his rantings seems like a lot coward or a fool or both. The Republican fools who still want to teach the G.O.P a lesson are themselves going to learn a lesson. The same lesson I learned when I voted for Ross Perot without thinking about who I was really helping. It's one thing to speak your mind.... but if you're still campaigning against McCain you campaigning For Obama!

Obama's Playing a prevent defense already!

I can't see Obama increasing his followers too easily from here to November. I guess that's why he's working to keep those followers on his right from bailing. This is encouraging to me, because on the other hand I can see McCain gaining from a few areas.Although it is tricky adding to his right and left at the same time, it is possible. But adding undecideds without losing others  is a little bit easier.I still think theres a way to add most hispanics by  reaching out strongly to legal immigrants. I can also make a strong argument that Clinton supporters are still in play. In contrast Obama is suffering from subtraction. The more his leftist ways are exposed the more he'll lose reasonable Democrats and independents. I hope he doesn't lose too much this week, because i don't want to see an effective Clinton mutiny at the convention. I do want see Some good Clinton mischief , just not successful mischief. I personally want to beat Obama in november because if you beat him you beat liberalism and socialism itself.

The Infinite Universe and Proud Grains of Sand

While watching the science channel documentary about origins of the universe and dark matter, a funny thought occurred to me. Scientists always seem to think that whatever is on the latest front page of a science journal is the only acceptable view of the universe. What if we all were really small, and lived on one grain of sand on a cosmic beach and this was the entire known universe. The smartest People would claim that the universe was just a beach. If someone proposed that there may be no end to the universe or the universe was endlessly changing and infinitely different as you  explore further, they might be ridiculed. If this is true already at every point we know of,  from the atom to collections of galaxies....why would it stop there? In my humble opinion, this is the only credible scientific framework, since it is already displayed over and over again at every level. Some humility is in order for those who yearn for knowledge. All astronomical and physical studies may be akin to the study of a small puddle in the scheme of the larger picture..... If you study the universe with humility, then Thank you.....If you think you've cornered the market for universal explanation and make grand self congratulatory declarations, you may be as silly as the man on the grain of sand that declares ...The world is a Beach

Saddleback: A choice between Wisdom and Blind idealism

That's what i got from the Saddleback forum, it really is a classic battle between Common sense and liberalism....Theory and reality....youthful idealism and the wisdom from age....proven historical solutions and failed progressive feel good academic fodder. McCain doesn't have to stutter, uh, hmm, pause and reflect on each question like Obama, he has already done this contemplative work throughout his life and arrived at solid realistic principles. The good thing about having principles and wisdom is that they apply to issues and situations. When someone flies an aircraft into a building , i don't have to wonder about nuances and causes to know where i stand, when a tyranny invades a democracy i already know that it's wrong... we can discuss nuance as an academic aside, but action requires principle. While academics can breed great discussion, they also nurture inaction.

America to expand N.A.T.O

What are the prerequisites for joining N.A.T.O ?......America should expand it to include those nations who truly appreciate democracy! Those nations who have fought and gained their freedom from Soviet oppression. Their love for constitutional governance should be inspiring to all of us who love our own constitution and Freedom. If someone loves American ideals and will fight and die for them... how can we even begin to distinguish ourselves from them? They are us.... only born on different soil. It's not a language, global coordinates , skin color , or religion that disinguishes us, it's our love for the ideas expressed in The constitution. I am more akin to the Georgian voter who will die defending democracy than the American born peace activist who would reveal our national security secrets on the front page of a newspaper. Am i the only one who see things this way?

Russia moving toward Iran ?

I think Russia , seeing the writing on the wall, is moving it's forces as close to Iran as it can, this is the only thing that really explains the aggressive nature of their recent incursion into Georgian  territory. If Israel strikes Iran and things go sour , Russia wants to be in position to cause their share of mischief.  Seems kind of obvious, but as usual I could be wrong... If I am, I'm sure one of you will tell me.

Dirty little secret: Conservatives have inflated tires for years

Obama is losing his mind, Mccain with tongue in cheek should immediately endorse tire inflation in addition to his own plan. If tire inflation is equal to drilling we can double our oil supply by doing both.

Rush Limbaugh right 98.3 % of the time????

Today I heard Rush railing against T. boon pickens assertion about 700 billion dollar transfer of wealth. It seems that Rush had an issue about the word transfer as opposed to Exchange. He made a good point about the fact that we are getting something for the 700 billion. I was immediately bothered by his focus of rage toward that part of the issue. I wanted to call and ask him about whether he would feel better having that money spent on American oil, to American companies as opposed to Opec and Our nations antagonists. Fortunately, some guy called and did it for me. Rushes response was all over the map, he ultimately lost focus and never really addressed the callers point..... being that all things being equal , it's better to have the money trickling down directly onto American soil and businesses. I wonder what leads Rush to be more enraged by the "transfer" comment than the actual point made by T.boon Pickens. I am in favor of America being the winner in a world economy, not just being in a world economy. There is no honor in just participating. That's why all good conservatives should only be in favor of ,Either fair trade or Trade where we have the advantage, not some peter pan Idea of free trade. Capitalism is worthless unless we capitalize. Wow I never would have ever thought that I'd be to the right of Rush. By the way, I agree with him about 98.3 % of the time.

CLINTONS ARE SUPPORTING A MUTINY

If Obama is behind by the time the convention is here, The Clintons will encourage the parties abandonment of Obama. Hillary has promised to work to get a Democrat in the white house , she never says she will fight for Obama. They will point out, that in this Democrat year, Obamas poll numbers should be way higher...and they are correct. They will insinuate that Obama is a flawed candidate...and they are correct.... The Dem party faithful will start to think seriously about losing their 3rd straight presidency. This will cause a major rift in the party that will not be healed by November.Think about how the black community will react.....As far as I know, no one is talking about this yet, stay tuned buckle up for the ride....... because I "m pretty sure about this prediction.

LET US REVISIT BLACK LIBERATION THEOLOGY

We should all take an important visit back to black liberation theology and find out who supports it and who doesn't, maybe the people have a right to know exactly what it is and how it can affect someones political views...how it can affect ones view of their own country.. where their allegiance lies when they follow this philosophy. These are legitimate questions. Although Obama was forced to renounce The Reverend Wright, he has never outlined his views on Black Liberation theology. Let me make it clear this is not an attack on his religion, if this even is his religion. It is merely an attempt to clarify his support or lack thereof. This could potentially be an explosive question to ask him. Because depending on how he answers... someone is gonna be fuming. My guess is that no one will touch this with a ten foot pole, but if you think it through...it is an extremely important question and a fair one as well. I will not stop asking about this until i get an honest and clear answer.

The people demand townhall meetings...

Do a poll, I bet it'll be a 90 percent issue... Obama is afraid to free wheel with the people.  I'm sure Axelrod has nightmares about the possibility of this scenario. When you have a candidate that works from a script, the last thing you want is no script. I see an opportunity here to force the issue. There is no downside to fighting for this type of debate forum. The people will want it and will resent Obama's attempt to thwart it. Run with it now. Ask The pollsters to do a poll about it , and use that poll to beat Obama on the issue..... Duh.
