The Infinite Universe and Proud Grains of Sand

While watching the science channel documentary about origins of the universe and dark matter, a funny thought occurred to me. Scientists always seem to think that whatever is on the latest front page of a science journal is the only acceptable view of the universe. What if we all were really small, and lived on one grain of sand on a cosmic beach and this was the entire known universe. The smartest People would claim that the universe was just a beach. If someone proposed that there may be no end to the universe or the universe was endlessly changing and infinitely different as you  explore further, they might be ridiculed. If this is true already at every point we know of,  from the atom to collections of galaxies....why would it stop there? In my humble opinion, this is the only credible scientific framework, since it is already displayed over and over again at every level. Some humility is in order for those who yearn for knowledge. All astronomical and physical studies may be akin to the study of a small puddle in the scheme of the larger picture..... If you study the universe with humility, then Thank you.....If you think you've cornered the market for universal explanation and make grand self congratulatory declarations, you may be as silly as the man on the grain of sand that declares ...The world is a Beach

Saddleback: A choice between Wisdom and Blind idealism

That's what i got from the Saddleback forum, it really is a classic battle between Common sense and liberalism....Theory and reality....youthful idealism and the wisdom from age....proven historical solutions and failed progressive feel good academic fodder. McCain doesn't have to stutter, uh, hmm, pause and reflect on each question like Obama, he has already done this contemplative work throughout his life and arrived at solid realistic principles. The good thing about having principles and wisdom is that they apply to issues and situations. When someone flies an aircraft into a building , i don't have to wonder about nuances and causes to know where i stand, when a tyranny invades a democracy i already know that it's wrong... we can discuss nuance as an academic aside, but action requires principle. While academics can breed great discussion, they also nurture inaction.
