The common man......
Obama and many Dems often speak to to working class about social programs and populist issues. Almost everyone confuses this with relating to them. Actually, it is nothing more than pity or well crafted patronage. They have the idea that this is a lower form of existence. This is taught at universities like Harvard , Yale, and Princeton as fact. Although Dems may have sympathy for The middle class and focus their self guilt at attempting to help them, the end result is a disconnect. It displays itself as pity, like Comments about " bitter Americans clinging". It's the same pity that they have for military recruits, often characterized as victims or uneducated.... and just as insulting. Obama attempts to connect to them with the single mother story, but beyond that chapter of his life there is little evidence of hardship, or even a job.Talk about pensions and outsourcing are powerful ways to connect to workers....where we are weak we need to get right now. Conservatives do however relate to middle America by the grace of principles.....principles cross economic and cultural boundaries.We must begin to chip away at the phony relation between liberal populism and real working class principles. One way to do this is to expose the true and devastating failure of F.D.R's new deal and the aftermath we still live with today. In a nutshell, these social programs have created a culture of dependence on government. This is a provable fact. It has switched the responsibility of taking care of sick, elderly, or wayward family and friends, to a less interested party .....The Government. We must relentlessly display the the cause and effect of social programs to the lack of self responsibility. Self responsibility is a concept that blue collar people understand fully and believe in. The New deal is an institutionalized and practically irreversible attack on the great strength of America. Self reliance. ..Obama doesn't believe in that and that is his greatest weakness.
